1. What is medical-grade Manuka honey?

It is a high quality honey made from the Manuka bush. Unlike the honey you buy at the grocery store, this version is cleaned and prepared in a lab so it is safe and effective for use on the sensitive skin around the eyes.

2. Why is Manuka honey good for eye comfort?

Manuka honey acts like a moisture magnet. It naturally draws in water and holds it against the eye surface. This helps create a protective layer that keeps the eyes from feeling dry or gritty.

3. Why should I use the gel overnight?

While we sleep, our eyes can lose moisture. Because this gel is thick, it stays in place much longer than regular eye drops.

4. Does the gel sting when you put it on?

Yes, it is very common to feel a sting and see some redness right after applying it. This is a normal reaction to the honey’s natural strength. The feeling usually goes away in just a few minutes, leaving the eyes feeling calm.

5. Why are "preservative-free" products preferred?

Preservatives are used to keep products fresh, but they can sometimes bother sensitive eyes. Since this gel is preservative-free, it is much gentler for long-term use and won't cause the irritation that some products with preservatives do.

Whilst this product can be used throughout the day, we prefer to use it overnight for long lasting relief and to use the Optimel drops during the day as they are quicker to apply and have less of a sting.

Don't be alarmed with the dispenser feeling light straight out of the box, this is deliberate as the tube is oversized to allow the contents to expand during sterilisation - there is definitely 10g in the packet! 

It can take some time to get used to the eye gel, so don't be alarmed if there is some transient redness.

• Wash your hands thoroughly before use and ensure contact lenses are removed.
• Squeeze a small amount of gel onto the tip of a cotton bud.
• Carefully apply this along the inside of the lower eyelid.
• Repeat on both eyes.
• You can apply this gel up to 1-3 times a day as directed.
